Among the Others is a parody ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis. This project is known for its bizarre, glitchy atmosphere and its unique character system: by default, players can play as Sonic with advanced moves like a double jump and air dash, but pressing B at the title screen activates a "soul" mode where you play as a Pepsi can.

Mega Man X in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a ROMhack/mod of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 which lets the player control Mega Man X instead of Sonic, with all of his signature attacks, like the charge beam, the wall jump and the dash, and X can also get the weapons from his enemies, like in his own games.

Sonic the Hackable is a ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis. Originally started as a practice project focused on level design, it has since evolved into a comprehensive "demake" of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I. The hack reimagines the modern Sonic 4 aesthetics and level concepts within the technical limitations of the 16-bit engine, featuring signature moves like the Spin Dash and Air Dash alongside entirely new level layouts and remixed soundtracks.

Sonic the Hedgehog OmoChao Edition is a ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) by Cinossu. Originally starting as a joke between himself and Qjimbo, later on becoming a joke hack as an idea for April Fools, with the addition of OmoChao it became a challenge-based (and playable) hack, where the objective is to collect, destroy or even touch as little as possible.

Hellfire Saga is a full-fledged Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles ROM Hack developed by Red Miso Studios, where Sonic goes through levels that are heavily based on classic 80/90s games and with a dark/spooky theme (Castlevania, Ghouls n' Goblins, etc).

Sonic 3: Angel Island Revisited (Sonic 3 A.I.R.) is an unofficial port of Sonic 3 & Knuckles for Windows PCs. It very closely resembles the original game, but adds features you would only expect from a modern fan game engine - including full support for 16:9 widescreen display, alpha transparency effects, and smooth 360° rotation.

Super Mario World (超級馬里奧世界) is a bootleg port of the SNES launch title of the same name (Super Mario World) developed by Hummer Team and released in 1995. This is one of the more well-known examples of bootleg ports to the Famicom, as it comparatively manages to retain most of the original SNES game's elements.

New Super Mario Land is a recreation of Super Mario Land (Game Boy) using New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS) assets and released for the SNES, with pseudo-3D graphics and a new co-op multiplayer mode.
