This dungeon crawler is one of the first ever RPGs with graphics and character progression.
You are Brian Hammerhand, having just arrived by ship in a small, nameless coastal town. After a quick brawl in the Wallowing Whale Tavern, and nearly penniless, you set out to explore the town. A boy you meet leads you to the house of Merlis the Mage. There, you learn about the legend of Apshai. Apshai is the ancient god of insects, and it is said that his priests, though very knowledgeable, meddled in dark rites. The followers of the earth god Geb drove the Apshaians away, and they eventually found a new home in an underground cave, which they relentlessly expanded over time. They built a huge temple in tribute to the god Apshai and prospered immensely in the years that followed. Then, one day, there was a great roar, the earth shook, and the temple, along with the village of the Apshaians, was utterly destroyed. They fled their home, never to return. In the years that followed, expeditions occasionally sought the riches and secrets buried in the Apshaians' underground settlement. But hardly any of those who ventured there ever returned. Can you, Brian Hammerhand, solve the mysteries of the Temple of Apshai and return safely with riches beyond imagination?

Initially released in Japan in 1993, Secret of Mana took the world by storm with its innovative real-time battle system and gorgeously rendered world. It continues to stand out among other action RPGs for its seamless gameplay that anyone from beginner to veteran can enjoy. One of the most memorable elements of the Mana series is the Ring Command menu system. With the single press of a button, a ring-shaped menu appears on the screen, where players can use items, change weapons, and do a variety of other actions without needing to switch screens. This Ring Command menu system for which the Mana series is so well known was first introduced in Secret of Mana and has since appeared in most games in the series. Play as Randi and his two companions, Primm and Popoi, as they adventure all around the world. At the center of our epic story is the mystical power of Mana. Battle the empire in its quest for control of Mana. Befriend the eight elementals who wield the forces of nature itself. Numerous encounters await at every turn.

Tower of Doom is a single-player, Dungeons & Dragons-inspired title created exclusively for the Intellivision. Choose from 10 different character classes, each with its own strengths. 7 different quests are available for play, with the harder quests featuring randomized maps and magic item effects. After choosing the quest to embark on, players will then control their character using a top-down view of the section of the dungeon they are in, the corridors and rooms being drawn on-screen as they explore them. Also to the player's disposal is a display of the character's inventory which can be utilized at any time, and an on-screen map of the entire dungeon. Encountering a creature will initiate a battle screen at which time players can fight the creature or attempt to bribe it with items they have discovered. Magic items and traps can also be found in the dungeon, each having unique effects on the player.

Players control Mario and Luigi simultaneously in the side-scrolling platform environment of Bowser's body, while also controlling the Koopa King himself in the top-down world of the Mushroom Kingdom. Similar to games like Earthbound, enemy encounters are seen as actual enemies that players can avoid or attempt to strike early.
