Virtua Tennis is a tennis game in which it is possible to control one of eight licensed players and uncover the secret stars. As well as the traditional arcade mode, you can play in the exhibition mode, with four-player action via doubles play. Once you've mastered those modes, take on the world in the world circuit mode, with unique training games, different challenges and shops to buy clothing, equipment, stages and playing partners.

Virtua Tennis 4 is an action-oriented tennis game which focuses on fast matches instead of being a realistic simulation. The heart of the game is the career mode in which the player creates their own avatar. The goal is simple: reaching the top within four seasons. Here the player has various possibilities to improve their tennis player, e.g. by playing training sessions (arcade minigames like picking up eggs) to improve the statistics, buying new clothes with prize money or playing matches. The menu for this mode is made up like a board game. Other playing modes are single matches, party mode (playing the mentioned mini games) or arcade (winning as many matches in a row as possible). Here players can choose between 19 licensed athletes (plus at release already retired athletes in the PlayStation 3 version). The standard controls for returning the ball consist of choosing the desired move, e.g. spin and basic direction. When a special bar is filled up, players can unleash an especially powerful shot.

Virtua Tennis 2 (known as Tennis 2K2 in North America) is a tennis video game in which players compete to reach the world No. 1 ranking. It features 16 internationally ranked male and female players and supports singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches with up to four participants. The game includes Tournament, Exhibition, and World Tour modes, offering structured competitions and progression systems. Matches focus on core tennis mechanics such as serving, volleys, lobs, and smashes.

Perfect a devastating array of strokes from a selection of top ranked and promising professional tennis stars, each of whom are modeled after their real-life counterparts. Smash Tennis is a tennis game that was created by Namcot for the Super Nintendo in 1993. It was released in Europe as Smash Tennis by Virgin Interactive. A North American release of the game wouldn’t be seen until February 2020 where it would be part of the Nintendo Switch Online lineup. The controls of Smash Tennis work similar to other tennis games and especially Namco's previous tennis game World Court Tennis: the player moves the athlete over the court and presses buttons with the correct timing in order to win the match. This time there is no story mode, but a tournament mode instead. Here the goal is to win the Grand Slam by playing various tournament matches. However. a match only has a single set. There are 20 athletes (both male and female) to choose from which have different advantages and drawbacks.
