

Spectral Tower is the first game in the RPG series released by Idea Factory for the Playstation One console, the game begins with an intro in which the adventurer arrive to a big tower that is located in an isolated desert. The gameplay is in third person perspective using an overview view meanwhile the player is exploring the different floors of each tower, and in a first person perpective for the battle parts.
Sinners are being drawn to a nameless town somewhere in Neverland, as if they were being attracted like iron to a magnet. Some had been gathering people for war, while others had been hurting others for their own gain. It was as if they all had their own cross to bear. In the middle of the continent, rose the Spectral Tower, which reflected in their eyes. It is said that a new world will open up for those who can make it to the top of that tower...

Mahoutsukai ni Naru Houhou is a Simulation/Action Role-playing game taking place on an island. Players take the role of a wizard's apprentice who's aspiring to become a mage and players are given 3 girls to choose from (Lime, Berry or Nut). To become a mage, players must study how they can make scrolls and collect the ingredients necessary to make them. The game features a first person perspective while players are at home and switches to a top-down 2D view when they go outside (The Saturn and Playstation releases render areas in 3D). There are 102 days in a year in this game and 5 seasons during which different materials can be found on the island. The game has 70 kinds of scrolls and around 150 kinds of materials to collect.

The Legend of Dragoon is a Japanese-style RPG, visually reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII (pre-rendered backgrounds, 3D characters and battle scenes, CG animations to advance the story). While incorporating action role-playing game elements from the three games which preceded it, Legend of Mana has its own distinct style of gameplay. Most notably, it gives the player the ability to shape the game's world of Fa'Diel according to his or her desires, a system which was incorporated through the use of "artifacts," which are gained as the player progresses through the game. The player uses the artifacts to create different towns, dungeons, etc., called "Lands", to venture to and explore. This creates a non-linear gameplay, since the game is driven by a series of what would be considered side-quests in other games. Legend of Mana features three different plots which can occur simultaneously, and which do not necessarily need to be completed for the player to finish the game. Legend of Mana was a financial success in Japan. While the game garnered considerable praise for its graphics and presentation, many critics and fans were turned off by the game's lack of a main storyline.
