Virtua Fighter 2 is a fighting video game developed by Sega. It is the sequel to Virtua Fighter (1993) and the second game in the Virtua Fighter series. It was created by Sega's Yu Suzuki-headed AM2 and was released for arcades in 1994. Ports were later released for various platforms.
The core of Virtua Fighter 2 revolves around a prestigious fighting competition where the world's top fighters vie for fame and honour. However, this tournament is orchestrated by the evil "J6" syndicate, with a hidden agenda to collect data that will aid in perfecting their formidable fighting cyborg known as "Dural." Dural, the game's boss character, wields a move-set using techniques borrowed from other characters.

Taka Arashi would not make another appearance in the Virtua Fighter series until Virtua Fighter 5 R; the series' current producer, Hiroshi Kataoka explained that the removal of Taka in subsequent installments was due to the technical implications of having a substantially larger character.

The port adapts the arcade game for the SNES/Super Famicom hardware, with reduced animation, altered audio, and some presentation changes. Unlike most earlier home computer conversions, it is a relatively close version of the arcade game, using the console’s six-button controller layout to reproduce the original punch and kick controls more directly.
